The number of illegal EU board crossing has dropped

The number of illegal border crossings into the European Union in the first six months of 2024 fell by almost a third (30 percent), to around 94,000, according to data compiled by Frontex.
Among the main migration routes, the Western Balkans and the Mediterranean recorded the largest decrease in the number of detected illegal border crossings), while the West African and Eastern land borders recorded the largest increase. Most illegal migrants on all routes this year were from Syria, Mali and Afghanistan.
